Skitouren:

Who does not know it? Freeriding in Engelberg is not an insider tip. The variants which can be skied from the ski resort are unbeatable. Many professional freeriders spend their winter season in Engelberg. There must be a reason for that! Here we introduce you to the great freeride variations of Engelberg.

Galtiberg

The King’s descent
The descent from Titlis to Engelberg via the Galtiberggleschter is long, alpine and requires a good skiing technique. It is one of the longest off-piste runs in the Alps. The feeling when you pass under the mighty Titlis north face is priceless, but reserved only for the strong freeriders.

Steinberg

The direct
The Titlis Rotair takes you high up. As soon as the doors open, the fun begins. From the station, all variants first lead across the glacier. Attention crevasses! With more than 1200 vertical meters, this descent is certainly one of the really big powder runs!

Laub

The classic
As soon as you enter Engelberg, this massive face catches your eye. With good conditions and strong legs, this 1200 meter long slope is an absolutely brilliant experience. Already in the gondola to Trübsee you can study your line and watch powder lovers skiing down. If you want to ski this slope, you have to get up early. But watch out, foliage is an old word for avalanche.

Steintäli

In the shadow of the great ones.
The Steintäli is probably the least known of these five. But those who know the terrain will also get their money’s worth here. From the Jochstock there are countless possibilities to ski into the Steintäli and those who are not afraid of a small climb can still make fresh tracks a few days after the snowfall.

Sulz

The playful
The Sulz offers three sectors. Small, medium and large Sulz. Each part has its own peculiarities. So you find in the Grossen Sulz steep and very challenging couloirs, while the Klein Sulz offers ideal terrain for freeride beginners. In the Mittel Sulz you will find a very playful terrain, which has already appeared in many a freeride movie.

Sunny Side Brunni

Often the sunny side of Engelberg goes a bit under. But when it has freshly snowed or is just about to, the south side of Engelberg offers a perfect playground for freeriders and freeriders. The lifts in Brunni take you up to around 2000müM. Some of the variants lead all the way to Engelberg village, which is a very special experience.

Do you feel like freeriding in Engelberg? Then don’t hesitate and sign up for a group freeride spot or book a private mountain guide who will show you the best lines.

Powder good!

The freeride destination Engelberg – Titlis – Brunni offers almost endless downhill possibilities. This not only brings a lot of fun, adrenaline and great experiences, but also involves risks. The danger of avalanches and falls is a big risk factor, especially in such an area.

The trained, local mountain guides manage the risk for you, make important decisions in the right situations. So you can enjoy and experience the day to the fullest, without pressure and stress.

Good news!

Do you already know our Powderalarm?
from 14 January to 26 March: every Friday & Saturday the Freeride Day Engelberg (in group) takes place from 1 participant.
Instead of freeride, a ski tour is also possible by arrangement.
Are you a snowboarder? Let us know when you register.
We have mainly skiers (about 85%). Most mixed ski & snowboard groups work ok, but it doesn’t have to be. We recommend booking a private snowoboard group otherwise. We can discuss this togeth

Powderjuwel – Andermatt

Just an hour’s drive from Engelberg is another powder paradise. Andermatt! Steep and north-facing, thus certainly good snow, are the slopes in the Urseren Valley, which stretch down to 1500 meters in altitude.
Skins and touring bindings are a must here, because the best descents often have to be worked for.

If needed, we can help organize the transfer to Andermatt (from Engelberg).

What equipment do I need to bring?

You need freeride skis / snowboard and avalanche equipment. (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel) Piste skis are less suitable for freeriding. You can rent freeride skis and avalanche equipment from us.

Do the guides speak English?

Yes our mountain guides all speak English.

Do I have to bring skins?

If you have skins for your skis or splitboard, pack them. However, they are not obligatory.

What happens in case of bad weather or bad conditions?

Basically we always find a good solution. Freeriding is possible even in poor visibility and often these are the most exciting days. The decision whether the freeride day takes place or not is at the discretion of the mountain guide. If the freeride day does not take place, you will be refunded or you can come on another day.

Is the freeride day also for snowboarders?

If you are very good on the snowboard and have a lot of experience in freeriding, we will be very happy to take you. We always try to form homogeneous groups so that nobody has to wait long. Therefore it is often difficult to mix ski and snowboard.

What are the requirements?

The freeride days for groups are not suitable for beginners. We assume a good ski and snowboard technique. If the mountain guide deems your technique insufficient, he is authorized to dismiss you early.
