Hut to Hut Skitour Gauli
4 Days ski touring from hut to hut in the wild Rosenlaui area
Ski Touring in the Gauli Region – A Hidden Gem in the Bernese Alps
Never heard of Gauli? This secluded alpine paradise stretches between Grimsel Pass and Grindelwald – a true hidden gem perfect for spring ski mountaineering. Surrounded by dramatic peaks and remote glaciers, the Gauli region offers some of the most breathtaking hut-to-hut ski tours in Switzerland.
The Bächlital and Gauli huts are ideally situated in stunning alpine scenery and serve as our comfortable and scenic bases. From the very start, the adventurous ascent via the dramatic Bächlilücke sets the tone – a thrilling gateway to the remote Gauli basin. Around the Gaulisee, countless ski touring routes await discovery.
Our week-long tour culminates in the ascent of the Ewigschneehorn, followed by an unforgettable descent over the picturesque Rosenlaui Glacier – a true highlight and a spectacular end to an epic mountain adventure.

Technical Requirements
Excellent off-piste skiing skills in steep terrain (35–40°). You should be able to descend confidently – even if not with elegant turns, then with solid side-slipping technique.
You enjoy ascents up to 1500 m using skins. Short, steep sections where skis must be carried (bootpacking) are no problem for you.
You're comfortable using ski crampons (harsteisen) on hard snow, and you can perform kick turns cleanly even on steep terrain.
Mental & Physical Requirements
Ski touring for several consecutive days is more demanding than a single 1500 m day tour. Prepare with regular training and ski tours to enjoy the full experience. Alpine skills are helpful but not essential.
Basic knowledge of avalanche transceiver (LVS), probe, shovel, and avalanche safety is required.
Price
The price includes the mountain guide’s fee and expenses.
Not included: hut accommodation (~CHF 80 per night), food and drinks in huts, cable car and taxi transfers.
Can I join with a splitboard?
Yes, splitboarders are welcome in principle. You must be in excellent physical shape, have strong downhill skills, and be confident performing kick turns with ski crampons in steep terrain.
Am I fit enough for the tour?
Ski touring several days in a row is more demanding than a single 1500 m day tour. You should prepare thoroughly. We recommend doing a few longer tours with a heavy backpack beforehand to test your limits and build endurance.
What happens if the tour gets canceled?
We always aim to run the tour as planned. If weather or snow conditions make it impossible, we will organize an alternative program or partial route. The final decision lies with the mountain guide.
What kind of skis should I bring?
We recommend a lightweight touring ski that still performs well on the descent. A width of 90–100 mm underfoot is ideal for this kind of multi-day tour.
What’s included in the price?
The price includes the mountain guide’s fee and expenses. Not included are hut overnight stays (approx. CHF 80 per night), food and drinks in the huts, as well as cable car and taxi transfers.
